What about allergies? Do Collies universally suffer from allergies or is it line related?

Thanks for the info on all the other stuff. My breeder is very good about taking care of her Collies (she breeds for mobility and support) but I do wonder about Prince’s allergies.

  2. kelley broadfoot says:

My collie male, who is 4, started getting all of these leisons on his face and front paws. I took him to the vet and they said that he has lupus, he was immediately placed on steroids and cyclosporine. He has been on this combination for 8 weeks and all he does is eat, pant, drink and act like he just wants to jump out of his skin. He seems miserable and although the lesions have lessened, they are still there. the vet said he has blood and protein in his urine, but it is just traces. He urinates and defecates in the house and can’t seem to relax. Any alternative ideas, or any thoughts on the matter. The breeder has been contacted and he said that this line does not have lupus……..but is willing to replace him when they can. I am concerned with my dog, he just seems miserable.
